Hiya, just wondering which classes would suit me? I’ve done weight training before – but nothing massively heavy, unless you count 30kg lat pulldowns…it’s my form more than anything else that needs serious work if I try and lift heavy
Sally - 15 July, 2011
Hi Mary-Rose,
The Level 1 beginners would be fine for you. Quite a few of my participants come into the course having done some or all of the barbell lifts before but haven’t really trained for strength nor had their technique closely scrutinised. Also Level 1 is structured like a programme, rather than a series of ‘one offs’, so if you’ve not done a strength programme before, this is a good place to start.

Fantastic! Thank you.
Just signed up, see you on the 11th!
The husband just said “but it means you’re going to get up at 5:30…?!”
Haha. Look’s like I’ll be sleeping on the couch with the cats on Monday nights then.
Sally - 18 July, 2011
Mary-Rose, yes it is blimmin early isn’t it! But it feels great to get your work done so early in the day. And you’ll be sleeping on the couch on Wednesday nights I hope…
Mary-Rose Agius - 19 July, 2011
Argh, meant Wednesday LOL. I get up at 6 most days to get to the gym – usually with grumbles and mumbles of “I want hug, no get up, HUG!” and an arm trying to pull me back to bed.
Really though, I prefer early mornings – my energy is totally zapped by the evening.
Rosie - 16 July, 2011
This sounds exactly what I’ve been looking for and after living in London for years and years I can’t believe I’m moving end of July so won’t be able to sign up! I don’t suppose you have any plans to do this anywhere else in the UK?
Sally - 16 July, 2011
Hello Rosie,
What a pity you’ll just miss it!
I would love to do these courses elsewhere in the UK, but there are no firm plans in place yet. I want to get them on a solid footing in London first.
My vision is to be able to have excellent female instructors delivering these courses around the country.
Why not sign up to the Ladies Who Lift mailing list at http://eepurl.com/cHTLY and you will be among the first to find out when anything happens!

Dee - 16 July, 2011
Would really love to do this, but not sure if I will be able to make all the session dates due to holidays and other commitments. Will you be running any more courses after these?
Sally - 16 July, 2011
Dee, yes, if the courses continue to go well I would love to keep doing them. All depends on demand! I have dropped you a quick line regarding your current situation.
penny - 18 July, 2011
I can’t do these dates either, as I’m away in August, but I thought I’d ask about this anyway, as it sounds like you might put the class on again sometime, if it works out. Would this class be okay for someone who hasn’t really done much weightlifting at all, and isn’t really very strong yet? I tend to put quite feeble amounts of weight on the weight machines at the gym, and my dumbells are pretty light too. Frankly, I don’t think I’ve ever lifted a barbell.
Thing is, I really would quite like to be strong though, and this sounds like a good way of getting myself to start working on that. If this was going to be on again later in the year, or next year, I could try and improve my strength in the meantime..
Sally - 18 July, 2011
Hello Penny,
You would be perfect for this course because you want to get strong! That’s all you need, the desire. You don’t need to be strong to start off with (although most people are stronger than they think they are).
I do anticipate doing more courses later in the year so sign up to the mailing list at http://eepurl.com/cHTLY and you’ll be informed of any dates as soon as they are in place.
Hope to see you on a course soon:)

Elisa - 21 August, 2011
I am desperate to do a course like this, but I live just outside Edinburgh!! I don’t suppose you know of any similar classes/trainers north of the border??
Thanks
Elisa
Sally - 21 August, 2011
Hi Elisa,
Sorry, I’m not aware of anything like this happening in your neck of the woods. Best option would be for you to join a gym where there are knowledgable people and learn that way.
Sally

I am one of those ‘Ladies who lift.’ Have been body pumping for 7 years and across 3 continents and I can assure nothing beats the adrenaline charge of a solid 1 hour of weight training to rock music. Makes me feel sixteen and in a flashdance haze all over again!
Sage - 5 December, 2011
Hey Sally,
Was unable to attend the classes so far due to travelling for work but really looking forward to getting involved in 2012. I’m a complete beginner and after moving to London got a little complacent and pudgy.
Luckily I sit opposite a weight lifter at work and he’s been incredibly supportive and motivating. I can’t wait to get started.
Sally - 5 December, 2011
Great to hear, Sage!
I am on the cusp of announcing new dates in a very impressive new venue, so watch this space…!
Annie - 2 January, 2012
Hi, feels like a dumb question but was this always a 3 week course? I seem to remember the beginners course being 6 weeks before.
Sally - 2 January, 2012
Annie, you are absolutely right. The course used to be 6 x 1 hours. I have now changed it to 3 x 2 hours because I found it was hard for people to attend 6 weeks in a row.
I hope that by making the sessions longer but reducing the elapsed time of the course, more people will be able to attend every session and get the most out of the experience.
The course is still the same length in terms of hours, so a similar amount of material is covered.
Meg - 7 January, 2012
Hi. I would love to attend one of your courses but I have a broken leg at the moment and I will be out of action for a while:@( Will you be putting any on towards the end of the year? If so, If I was to sign up could I then do the Bio signature course in February as this is also something I would really love to do.
Many thanks
Meg.
Sally - 7 January, 2012
Hello Meg,
Yes there will be more courses throughout the year but I haven’t confirmed the dates yet. Just to confirm, the Biosignature isn’t a course about Biosignature, it is a one-off Biosignature consultation. But yes, once I have confirmed dates and posted the details, it will be possible to sign up for the course/Biosignature deal and then I am happy to do the Biosignature whenever you like.
If you have more questions, do let me know. You can also contact me privately via the contact page on this website.
Best,
Sally
Vickie - 6 February, 2012
