“I want to get stronger to maintain an active life as I get older, but do it safely and correctly”

Class TIMES

Golden Girls (women-only 55+) – FRI: 6.00pm – 6.45pm

Staying active as we age is one of the best things we can do for our long-term health and wellbeing. But knowing how to exercise correctly, especially when it comes to weights, can feel intimidating – particularly in a typical gym environment.

That’s why we created Strength Foundations 55+, a new addition to our popular Strength Foundations programme, designed specifically for older adults who want to build strength, confidence and energy in a supportive and sociable environment.

Whether you’re new to resistance training, returning after a break, or simply looking for a better way to stay active, our 55+ exercise classes will help you feel stronger, move better and enjoy everyday life more.

What Your Challenges Might Be

Many of our members over 55 say:

  • “Gardening, stairs and housework feel harder than they used to.”
  • “I feel like I’ve lost strength and stamina.”
  • “I want to stay physically active but I’m worried about hurting my back or knees.”
  • “The gym doesn’t feel like a welcoming place for someone my age.”
  • “I know lifting weights helps protect muscle mass and bone health, but I don’t know where to start.”

You’re not alone – and the good news is, it’s never too late to start. With the right support, anyone can build strength safely and effectively.

“Although I’m now in my 60s I’m stronger than I was in my 20s… Initially I was worried about hurting my knees or back but I’ve had no injuries and I now view this training as beneficial for my joints.” – Rob, 61

  • Improve mobility, posture and balance
  • Boost energy and confidence
  • Protect against frailty and help manage chronic medical conditions
  • Improve quality of life and the ability to live independently
