Our strongwoman training workshops are proper strongwoman, not just ‘fat loss’ training with funky equipment.
Strength, power and fitness are the qualities we are training. You’ll train real strongwoman events, and have the chance to try competition-style formats, such as you might see at World’s Strongest Man!
From tractor tyres to log press, we have it all!
Who is the strongwoman workshop for?
These workshops are suitable for those who are new to strongwoman training or still in the beginner stages, but have some experience with strength training.
You need to be confident lifting weights (preferably barbells) in the gym in order to do this workshop. For example, you would be expected to know how to deadlift a barbell safely.
HOWEVER please don’t be put off by thinking you have to meet some kind of ‘standard’. It’s not about how strong you are, it’s about whether you know how to lift safely. This is not the right session to teach basic lifting technique, as we are focussed on strongwoman events.
If you want a complete introduction to weight training, then the Ladies Who Lift Beginners programme is for you.
If you are not sure whether you should come, please drop me a line using the contact form below. Let me know what experience you have with lifting weights and I can advise you.
What is it like?
Strongwoman is a whole new challenge, but it is also great fun. You’ll be with a range of other women, often working in pairs or teams, so there’s a real sense of camaraderie.
You’ll be picking up all kinds of objects, from kegs to tyres. You’ll be moving and lifting in a bunch of different ways and challenging your body to do something new and exciting.
Great strength is not required! All that’s needed is a ‘have a go’ attitude, a bit of effort and teeth-gritting! Remember, few things worth having come easy. But if you put in the effort, you will come away with a memory to treasure and pride in what your body can do.
Each workshop is slightly different, but will feature some or all of the following strongwoman equipment:
- Tyres at 135kg, 150kg, 250kg and 350kg plus smaller practise tyres
- Log starting at 17kg
- Yoke starting at 40kg
- Farmers walk handles
- Variety of kegs from 10kg to 95kg
- Sleds, prowler, sandbags etc
- Axle (fat bar)
- A large array of olympic bars and bumper plates
Workshop tickets are £45 for non-members. Members can use one of their class allowance to book.
