Our strongwoman training workshops are proper strongwoman, not ‘modified strongman training’, otherwise known as fat loss training. Strength, power and fitness are the qualities we are training. You’ll train real strongwoman events, and have the chance to try competition-style formats.
Who is it for?
These workshops are suitable for those who have done strongwoman training before OR are new to strongwoman training, but have some experience with strength training.
You need to be confident lifting weights (preferably barbells) in the gym in order to do this workshop.
HOWEVER please don’t be put off by thinking you have to meet some kind of ‘standard’. It’s not about how strong you are, it’s about whether you know how to lift safely. This is not the right session to teach basic lifting technique, as we are focussed on strongwoman events.
If you want a complete introduction to weight training, then the Ladies Who Lift Beginners programme is for you.
If you are not sure whether you should come, please drop me a line using the contact form below. Let me know what experience you have with lifting weights and I can advise you.
What is it like?
Strongwoman is a whole new challenge, but it is also great fun. You’ll be with a range of other women, often working in pairs or teams, so there’s a real sense of camaraderie.
You’ll be picking up all kinds of objects, from kegs to tyres. You’ll be moving and lifting in a bunch of different ways and challenging your body to do something new and exciting.
Great strength is not required! All that’s needed is a ‘have a go’ attitude, a bit of effort and teeth-gritting! Remember, few things worth having come easy. But if you put in the effort, you will come away with a memory to treasure and pride in what your body can do.
Each workshop is slightly different, but will feature some or all of the following strongwoman equipment:
- Tyres at 135kg, 150kg, 250kg and 350kg plus smaller practise tyres
- Log starting at 17kg
- Yoke starting at 40kg
- Farmers walk handles
- Variety of kegs from 10kg to 95kg
- Sleds, prowler, sandbags etc
- Axle (fat bar)
- A large array of olympic bars and bumper plates

Sally is the founder of Strength Ambassadors and is the UK’s most influential female strength coach, with a background in competitive powerlifting, strongwoman and olympic weightlifting. Now she is on a mission to make strength training simple, accessible and life-changing for everyone.
Sally won the inaugural UK Strength & Power competition in 2009 and came second in Bigger, Stronger, Faster in 2012. She had to pull out of Strength & Power 2010 halfway through injury, but not before she’d pulled a massive truck, for which she will be forever grateful.
